SUCCESS ALL ROUND FOR CISTERCIAN COLLEGE LEAVING CERT STUDENTS
It is smiles all round for students, parents and teachers alike at Cistercian College Roscrea today, as the class of 2015 return to the hallowed grounds of Mount St. Joseph Abbey to receive their Leaving Certificate results. Two thirds of CCR students received over 450 points while a quarter received over 500 in this year’s state examinations. This year’s results builds on the success of 2014 with past student Mathew Kavanagh receiving 8A1’s – one of the top results in the country last year.

“I am absolutely thrilled with the results and would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff at the College for their continuous support and guidance. I have really enjoyed my time here at Roscrea and am looking forward now to going on to third level education and am hoping to study science at University College Cork” said Liam Walsh, sixth year student from Cistercian College Roscrea.
Reacting to his son’s results, Mr Joe Walsh said: “We are absolutely delighted with Liam’s performance in the Leaving Cert. He has enjoyed a wonderful experience here in Roscrea from day one. The teaching staff here routinely go above and beyond the call of duty to make themselves available to the students. All the boys with their teachers have worked incredibly hard and as a parent, I couldn’t be prouder.”
Having won the prestigious Leinster Schools Senior Cup in rugby for the first time this year, today’s outstanding results are the icing on the cake for the schools successes in 2015, stated Brendan Feehan, President and Principal of the College. “It is a fantastic achievement on the part of all the students who got their results today.” said Mr Feehan.
“The overall grades achieved today reflect very well on the holistic education and ethos here at Roscrea. The College staff are experts in their field and are dedicated to their vocation. Separate to daily classes and evening study time, extra tuition and workshops are available to all students at the weekend with focus placed particularly on STEM subjects. It is this commitment to providing an excellent educational environment that sees the College listed as one the top feeder schools to University education in Ireland today”, Mr Feehan continued.
