TY Trip to Italy

At 2 a.m. on Friday morning last a group of 22 TY students left the college to catch the 7 a.m. flight to Milan to begin their 4 day tour. First stop was the city of Milan, fashion capital of the world, where they had time to stroll in the Galleria Viktorio Emmanuelle home to many famous labels. The also visited the famous Milan Cathedral and the Sforzia Castle.

In the afternoon they had a tour of the San Sero stadium home to both Inter Milan and AC Milan.

It was then onward to their hotel located in the village of San Zeno overlooking Lake Garda.

Day 2 began early, travelling to Tronchetto to get a water taxi to Venice where they had a 2 hour guided walking tour of the city beginning in St. Marks Square and ending on the Rialto Bridge. Venice looked spectacular in glorious sunshine.

Day 3 was a fun packed day at Gardaland where the boys enjoyed some of Europe’s largest roller coasters, water rapids and many more high adrenaline activities.

On the final day of the trip, the first stop was the city of Verona famous for its outdoor amphitheatre, the Verona Arena and the house of Juliet made famous by Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet.

In the afternoon it was on to the village of Lazise from where they took a boat trip on Lake Garda to the picturesque Sirmione where they had time for a swim and to sample some Italian gelato. Before leaving Sermione the students enjoyed a meal “al fresco” in warm sunshine ahead of a very much lower temperature in Roscrea on their return.
